Upon a silent requestA Poem by ronUpon a silent request
In the shadows of the night lies a lonely heart, It lies there waiting for it’s one true love.
Night after night it’s silent request passes into the morning, unheard and unanswered.
With great anticipation it seeks the first star of the night, It’s silent request spoken with love in it’s voice.
If the stars and the moon wept from this silent request, none ever showed it, no star dust ever fell.
On fallen knees the request was given, how silent the words became as tears turned to dust.
Not a sound or a glimmer, not a sigh was ever given. Now the request becomes more quiet then a whisper.
The heart still beats for its one true love, silently kept in a box on the shelf.
I use to visit it when the moon was full, but I have put it away, afraid of the pain that it holds.
An empty heart with a silent request, it was once a dream...
and a dream it will stay.
