My introduction into Art
I had
very little knowledge of what art was until…
Tom
Gilbertson (Drawing and painting teacher), and Carol Hagerdy (Watercolor
teacher) introduced me to a world that seemed hidden and mysterious to me.
Through
them, I opened my eyes to the wonders of art. They taught me to open my mind
and never look back. There are no mistakes in art, only regrets for not trying
new things.
Paint
upside down Tom would tell us…What are you crazy, but it works.
Blend
colors and allow them to grow and create is what Carol would tell us…oh my God
what madness is this, but it worked.
Allow
the piece to create itself, don’t be afraid to make a mistake.
This
is good advice even for poets (At least that is what I believe).
So go
forth with pen in hand and write the world in soft colors of emotion, write
with a passion that no force would dare to confront.
Poor your
most inner feelings and thoughts out on the paper. Let them command the day and
night. Let them bring tears and laughter to the reader.
Make
every word a testament to who you are and let the world be dammed if they don’t
like it.
