Ron,
As one who respects the ways of old, though I do not practice them in the form of the Wicca belief I am aware of the significance of your belief in the Sabbats of Beltane and Samhain (and all others) and respect for nature and the tenets of the practice of the white arts.
While attending a gathering of witches and warlocks in WA state some years ago to discuss whether or not Halloween is considered a religious holiday for those who practice Wicca and witchcraft, those in attendance very much considered this to be their religion. A High Priestess was one of the main participants and though I listened to her I did not adhere to her beliefs.
I too have studied the beliefs of the Indian Shaman and believe in the powers of the Shaman and medicine man and understand there are those in my bloodline who have practiced this art. My great grandmother was a full blood Cherokee Indian and many in my family have special gifts of the arts.
You have presented another side to the witch, though many who read this are going to relate to the witch of Halloween who gobbles up little children.
Thank you for sharing part of your belief. I too have read your write of Athena and know of many of those who influence your ways of life.
Loreena McKennett sings many songs of the Celts which speak of the old beliefs and the way of those who celebrated many of your holidays, including Beltane. I often listen to them.
Am I Wiccan? No, I am not. I am a Christian, but I do understand many of your beliefs and I do have certain gifts that remind me of my ancestors of old. Respecting one another is the way we show love, and it is love that I advocate above all else!!

I to believe that respect for another beliefs is something we all should do. We don't all have to agree but we should all respect other points of view. This is some thing I thing a lot of people in power have forgotten. It is (At least in my opinion) what made America great.

That is very much the Wiccan way, "Do no harm," as I attended one Wiccan get-together years ago. Yet listening to the raspy chant - I'm like Aieee !! :)
