My first painting in a gallery

My first painting in a gallery

A Story by ron

My first painting in a gallery

It was my very first art show at college.

I had never shown a painting or anything before.

I was more nervous than I thought I would be.

She said, “Do you mind if I don’t go? I’m not feeling that well.”

I said that I understand.

As the night continued, I felt more and more alone.

But I told myself “when she feels better she will come see my paintings hanging in a gallery for the first time”.

As the weeks went by, we had gone to the campus time and time again.

She kept telling me it was too far to walk across campus.

I said I understood.

Finally, one day I found a parking space that was about 100 feet from the gallery.

This is it I thought, she will see my painting hanging in the gallery.

I felt like a kid taking my parents to my first play.

She never got out of the car. It was too far and she was not feeling good.

She asked me if I understood. I said I would.

Opposites definitely attract but it can get hard, particularly when they do not understand a key component of who you are

This is very true Cher. thank you for reading and your review.
That is sad and painful when the person you trust the most do not share your passion

Yes it is Carol. But it is what it is.
Damn, talk about emotional punch. Reminded me of my Ex, LOL. In all seriousness, I think the way you experiment with structure is phenomenal. Have you ever read any William S. Burroughs? If not, you should read some of his books, because you have stumbled upon a gonzo writing style. You have invoked Burroughs Thompson, and I encourage you to write longer, go farther. Push yourself. I can't wait to read you're first full shot story!

Well, shoot. That would've made me feel pretty disappointed. Is this "she" your mother? It's really hard to understand anyone close not being supportive of your art. As this reads like a story, I'm not sure why you didn't write it as such.

A girlfriend--now it makes more sense. I think it'd be just fine in story format.

I might later. For now it was a way of venting I guess. I found poetry is a good way to vent...lol
It is sad when another cannot appreciate the talent and efforts of another, especially when it is one who is an important part of their life - or supposed to be an important part of!! I am sorry this happened to you! I am sure your artwork is worthy of being appreciated!!

Do you ever share any of your paintings, etc. in photos? If so, please post them on here - I would really like to see them!! I can't draw a straight line and always appreciate the art work of others who have talent that I do not have!! I am sure you are very talented Ron!!

:( sorry to hear that
Short, but strangely sorrowful. I completely understand how you feel. Sometimes people are truly cruel, adamant creatures. I hope your friend(?) will understand all the emotions behind that single painting.

Great as usual, thanks!
