The AbyssA Poem by ronThe Abyss I stand looking over the edge of the abyss. My heart held in my hand.
My head bent in shame, the world I knew, was just a dream. My hand quivers as my heart begins to slips form my fingers.
How many times did I give you away? How many times did I not protect you?
Could I have saved you? Was it your choice that you broke?
Did you not hear my pleads? Could you if you wanted to, stop and see?
You are broken and I can no longer fix you.
I look down into the abyss.
IS THIS WHAT YOU DEMAND!!! IS THIS THE PRICE OF FOLY!!! TAKE US AND BE DAMED!!!
Hot tears flowing down my cheeks, I hold you tight… “Why, why did you leave me? Was it too much to ask, not care so deeply.”
I stand up straight holding you to my chest. It was not your fault that you loved so much.
My dear loving heart we shall face the abyss together. Kissing you one last time, I leap.
Suddenly we both know. It was not just you that broke; it was the two of us.
You and I, how we loved and played. How we loved too much.
Now falling into the abyss, we are free from the pain. We shall perish together.
Do not cry for us, for we are free at last. The burden of love shall not afflict us any longer.
Smiling I slide you in to the emptiness in my chest. You belong there, with me.
We are once again whole. Together in to the abyss we fall.
Darkness surrounds us. We are happy; we no longer feel pain…
The Abyss smiles, it has claimed another.
