Our Song

Our Song

A Poem by ron

Our Song

Your heart my heart beating a rhythm in time.

Your eyes, my eyes lost in each other as we quietly sigh.

A touch of our quivering lips brush together.

Not a moment or thought is lost on each other.

What do you think of, could you quench my thirst?

Would you heal my heart and make me complete?

Would you toy with my feelings like a cat with its prey?

Will you love me and want me to stay?

Your finger grazes my face, the tips trace my lips.

I close my eyes afraid you will be gone, afraid I will never know your song.

You press your finger to my lips they quietly tell me I am safe.

You take my hand and place it over your heart; you slide yours down press it against mine.

You hold me tight, you know the pain I have felt.

The same pain which haunts your life as well.

You make no promises to heal my heart, nor ask the same of me.

The only thing you promise is to stand in the storm as we face it together.

You whisper your song. I tell you I have lost mine.

You smile and say…

We will look for your song and make it ours.

And when we find our song it will sing above all others.

It will be the song that calls to all lovers.

They will write about our love and passion for each other.

Poets will write and sages will tell, of the love that we have and the song that we sing.

Bells will ring from the highest of steeples, and the world will know our love for each other.

Love is a song that we all dance to - sometimes alone and sometimes with partners too. You write about love with confidence about what it is, and then you offer the experience. Love is, as simple and as grand as you want it to be... The kind of love you write about here, speaks about commitment immortalised.

Songs and music are an amazing thing, Ron. There is a saying that goes, "Music soothes the savage beast." yet I think it also soothes the destructive nature of man.

Even babies react to music. There is a belief that if they listen to classical music it may enhance their intelligence. While I can't attest to this, I can say that music is the path to enlightenment - always.

Those who Love, those who are loved, and those still searching ...

Thank you very much.
Absolutely lovely! Ron, this is filled with tender romance and understanding one for the other that builds to an ending that gives me cause to shout!
The last couplet gives me cause to shout, "yes, yes, yes"!! May you write this song with the one of your devotion and ever sing it - together as the worlds knows of your love one for the other!!!

Thank you julie I'm happy you enjoyed it.
One of your best I think Ron.. How beautifully soft this felt..

We will look for your song and make it ours.
And when we find our song it will sing above all others.
It will be the song that calls to all lovers.
They will write about our love and passion for each other.
Poets will write and sages will tell, of the love that we have and the song that we sing."

Ron that line about making your song our song feels so heartfelt.. The thought of two sad songs coming together to release the sadinss and become a beautiful love song to me is great writing... Fantastic thoughts behind this one.. xo Rose
