Friendship hurtsA Story by ronFriendship hurts
As we sat on the park bench, I took your hand in mine. Quietly the words left my quivering lips.
“We have known each other since 5th grade” I began “would you be my girlfriend this day?” Blushing in surprise you softly squeezed my hand, giving me hope inside.
“You know I care about you” you started to say “and I know you care for me.” A smile formed on my lips, your eyes shown like stars that day.
My heart skipped several beats, quietly I prayed, “Please say yes.” As you hugged me, I felt the terrible blow.
“I care for you as a friend; you’re the best one I ever had.” You let my hand fall gently in my lap, “I don’t want to lose you as a friend.” © 2013 ronFeatured Review
