For Freedoms GloryA Poem by ronFor Freedoms Glory
Sabers crossed and spurs dug deep. The charge was made, their honor would keep.
Cannon balls roared and shots rang out. Some fell to glory, the glory of battle.
Onward, they rode through the smoke dark as night. Onward, they rode for freedom and might.
Closer they rode into the enemy lines. They now could see fear in their enemies’ eyes.
Onward, they charged, the momentum did carry them. Onward, they ride to the carnage that patiently waited them.
They reformed the spear as it dug deep in the lines. Gathered together they struck the blow that would free our lives.
The battle was won that fateful day. But to what cost from the brave that selflessly paid?
They are now laid to rest, the brave that had died. Remember their price, the price they had paid.
So that we can live with the freedoms, we have to this day. © 2013 ronFeatured Review
