Nature Speaks

What will nature show us if we open ourselves up and listen to new sensations?

Will we feel a stream rushing by, or taste the birds flying high?

Could we converse with a rock that has stood watch from the start?

Could we laugh with a cricket and talk at some length?

Would the caterpillar discuss its dreams to become a butterfly and feel the wind under its wings?

Talk with a wolf and converse with a bear as they sit with a philosophical air.

All these things are possible if we learn how to listen and open ourselves up to new sensations.

Trust me dear reader I have learned a few of natures sweet secrets.

You may like one of the favorite quotes I have from one of my Pick-Your-Own-Path books, "Revolt Of The Dwarves."

The story so far, Galen is bewitched by a forest Faery. He goes with her and agrees to be shown wonders no human has ever seen.

"Over the years - or are they centuries ? - you experience wonders that few if any have ever seen before. You have become the heart of a great oak and waved your branches in wild joy in black, blinding storms.

"You have become a pebble at the bottom of a stream and watched the world wash by. You have been a cloud in the sky and listened to the heartbeat of the universe."

All these things, Ron and we are still - human - to consider them all. Yet - in our path beyond this mortal coil, who knows what awaits us, or if reincarnation is in fact possible and we do become all these things as you have mentioned them.

The cold stream of a river, the freedom of a bird, the patience of a rock, the spryness of a cricket, the chaos in the flight of a butterfly, or even the biting hunger of a lean and prowling wolf.
