A Thousand Spears

A Thousand Spears

A Poem by ron

A Thousand Spears

The pentacle of the charge was formed.

And the spear of the attack was born.

Ride on my brother’s ride on for a new day shall dawn.

Ride to glory, ride for the right.

Ride against the ones that attack us in the night.

Take our freedom, take our spirit, and take the ones that will not quit.

Take everything we hold dear, and you will find a thousand spears.

You fight us in the name of your God.

But remember this day, it begins at dawn.

We will not parish we will not falter.

We are the ones you dare to change.

WE are the ones that will not perish.

You may fight us as a coward.

Burn our homes and take our children.

Remember this day for it will be your gravest mistake.

To think you can make us bend to your will.

You will find us with a thousand spears.

A thousand spears, what will you do.

Hide in darkness, hide in shame.

How dare you fight in Gods own name.

Run and hide for you will not stand against a thousand spears.

Yes, too many have died in 'the name of God'. While I feel this about 911 and the middle east wars since, it also applied to the early Christian crusades who may have been guilty of similar. I cannot imagine any God that would want carnage in their own name.

I guess cause I've been thinking of Conan The Barbarian recently, I am reading this and seeing a tremendous battle, and you have these armored warriors, a thousand deep in long velvet cloaks over their horse, each with these awesome spears made of solid iron and gold.

And the battle rages on, by Crom ! Nicely written, Ron ! :)
