Standing watch

Standing watch

A Poem by ron

Standing watch

Standing watch on the walls, I feel so very small.

I am the one that keeps you safe when you sleep this very night.

I will guard the fort and stand my watch not afraid of shadows that move.

Rest your head and dream your dreams for tonight I stand my watch.

The cold wind blows; I cover my head, for this is the life I chose.

To keep you safe and watch the night for anything that seems to move.

Rest your head and dream your dreams for tonight I stand my watch.

I stand my watch a thousand times, never giving up the night.

The night is mine it belongs to me as the shadows slink back in fear.

The shadows dare not come for they see me standing watch.

They know me well and keep away for they have fought me and always lost.

Rest your head and dream your dreams for tonight I stand my watch.

Thank you. I might change it from about me to mean every one that stand watch.
