A strange time

A Chapter by Sally

it all started 10 years ago, in a much more peaceful world than this. A simple experiment involving a wand which had been kept under lock and key in the basement of the old house for many years and had once belonged to the previous house, owner had malfunctioned. two people stood in a large airy room, young Miranda stood, holding the wand, pointing it at a glass which she would turn into a chicken. while Salma stood in the doorway, looking wary. Miranda, she called, I don’t think you should wave that around so carelessly. Miranda turned around slowly, a door creeked open, and Bounty entered, carrying a large stack of books. for goodness sake, be careful! Salma called as he passed the table on which the glass stood. Determined to impress him, Miranda flicked the wand, there was a loud squawking sound, the pile of books fell with a crashing and a cluttering to the floor. Miranda spun around on the spot, staring at a large chicken, standing a midst a pile of the books that bounty had so carefully organized. Salma gasped! what in heaven‘s name have you done! She cried. Oops! Miranda said quietly. Oops indeed, Thelma said advancing on the chicken. You’ve turned him into a bird! Mabel, she yelled, and another younger slider girl rushed into the room. Who turned bounty into a chicken! She yelled. This is why we never get the one out, it must be destroyed, but for God sake, turn him back. Miranda flicked the wand, there was a bright flash of blue light, and then he stood surrounded once again, except now in his human form, by the jumble of books. that was horrible! He said, he looked around and saw everybody standing around so casually looking at him. And embarrassing! He blush and then gathered up the books and hurried out of the room through the opposite door. Miranda turned around and flicked the wand again. This time the glass split into and re-manifest it into a smaller chicken. thank goodness, Mabel cried, dancing up to the table, lifting the chicken into her arms and hurrying toward the exit. Perhaps bounty should put the destroying of the wand on his missions list. Bounty has far too many missions to be worrying about, Salma chipped in. perhaps you should take that chicken to somebody who actually would make use of it, she chided Mabel before turning and disappearing through the other door.
