Writing Another Villanelle

Writing Another Villanelle

A Poem by Roland Petrov
"

Blame Richard!

"

I think it would be rather swell

Trying my hand just one more time

To write another villanelle

Though it may drag me into hell

While searching for that perfect rhyme

I think it would be rather swell

I doubt there's water in the well

I hope it won't end up a crime

To write another villanelle

Lighthearted, that is what they tell

Make readers feel like seeing mime

I think it would be rather swell

I meditate and ring a bell

I want it to be just sublime

To write another villanelle

I ran too fast and then I fell

My effort isn't worth a dime

I think it would be rather swell

To write another villanelle

O! I love the Villanelle, Terzanelle, and Terza Rima and wrote a series of all three a while back: Night Blossoms Black, In The Black, and Blood is the Rose. It's always so much fun to try writing different forms of poetry. I always find this to be inspiring whenever I need to challenge myself with something new.

It's an a-maze-ing Villanelle, Roland … LOL!
I absolutely love this, it is creative, original, spot-on perfect in form, count, rhymes, and in every other way.
You've thrown-in humor, logic, philosophy, emotion, sensation, mystery, illusion, and a smattering of leftovers and stirred them all together, and my-GOODNESS, what a heavenly concoction you've poured out onto the page … I love it!
How about another one? : )

Fantastic, My Friend — you have done yourself proud … you're truly an excellent poet.
Thank you for the honorable mention, Roland … I am honored, and will gladly accept blame! ⁓ Richard

You really make it sound like a villain of sorts. Fun and creative. :D

There's surely enough water in the well and an equal, if not more, potential in Roland to write another villanelle or whatever he undertakes! :-)

Thanks, Blossom! You're awfully kind, as usual.
This is an interesting poem. I feel like I've journeyed into your mind and I'm hearing your internal dialogue. There is an odd smell here, and a child; a little boy holding a sign. It says, "Detour". He should be wearing a reflective vest, Roland... Ooh, looks like a sinkhole took it a big chunk of the road, but they are doing a fine job of fixing it.
