Love Never Shown

Love Never Shown

A Poem by Rogerh

Love Never Shown

Bleed me not your pain

To me it is all insane

I have enough of my own

Made by love never shown

You try to drain it all away

Comes back more the next day

The blood that is on your wrist

Cut there by a never ending list

Lies you do not believe yourself

Half truths you have put on the shelf

Traded for your last drop of sanity

Marked to the unfeeling world you see

You can see the love it is all around

Kind of love that you have never found

Loved before but you got so hurt

You bury all your trust in the dirt

You settle into being all alone

With love that was never shown

Sitting in your little world all alone

Finding pleasure within nicks in your bone

Scars that never heal are never to be seen

Can find no one on which you can lean

Cannot give love that you have never known

You die alone with love never shown

Roger, this is a gut-wrenching piece, streaming from first to last line with pain and despair. I clearly see a scarred, battle-weary but tough man (or woman) who is still standing after a lifetime of struggle. Though sad, the humility and wisdom of a seasoned human shines through. A difficult poem to read, but sincere throughout. Thanks for sharing your work.
