I write to understand

I write to understand

A Poem by Rogie-Dodge
"

If I can express things in verse, then I must understand them.

"
I write of what I read
What I hear, what I see,

To express in a form
With structure or with rhyme,
To pick out the right words
With a flow so sublime.

If that I can achieve
I have truly perceived.

Excellent piece. Writing helps me in so many ways, often times it helps organize my thoughts. Ever since I started writing, I pay more attention to the world around me, and usually it ends up in my poetry. I really relate to this. Just...really great job.

I like this Ars Poetica! Short and simple. Sometimes writers think that they are just writing about their feelings, but more often than not, it's all in an attempt to understand and process the emotions. Nicely put :)
