Finding Peace

Finding Peace

A Poem by The Seeker of Thoughts
"

The story of a man who finds peace in death after a life full of happiness and sorrow.

"
An old man in his lonesome, thinks of dreams.
Ones where he is free and all is as seems.
He looks for a thought forgotten in time.
A thought of his youth his innocent prime.
Hands on his face the man begins crying.
He knows he is dead. Time is not lying.
"How long has it been?" He finds himself asking.
He has forgotten the joy of laughing.
He thinks a dream to find his long lost hope.
Be rid sorrow he can no longer coupe.
He closes his eyes and drifts off to sleep.
His mind and soul now in slumber kept deep.
His olden soul turns back to youth of old.
His smile and his laugh are returned to gold.
He runs up a tree and scrapes up his knee.
He doesn't look down in his dream. He is free.
He never wakes. His bed eternal rest.
Yet, he smiled. He had completed life's test.
Yes, he lost his way but never did hate.
Trusting he'd be lead to pearly white gates.
In the end it was his smile that overpowered his sorrow.
He knew he'd always wake up tomorrow.
In his life he stood not because he should.
He stood in life because he knew he could.
He's a monument of life's achievements,
A monument of life's grievances.
He will always be remembered by me.
As a man with the courage to be free.

Had the feel of a Dante's tale. Struggle and hard road to proper understanding. Tonight world. Easy to live a closed-eyes view on the world. Only concern with own life and safety. The courage to face life with true vision and the strength to stand for the right things. Few can do today. A very good write. Made me think and ponder life and freedom. Thank you my friend for sharing the amazing poetry.

Nobody's life is all good or all bad. Things are generally complicated and messy.
But it's nice to remember life for all its parts and everything that leads you to this moment.

This reminds me of what the one time king of Israel said in the voice of David '' I once was young but, now I am old. Yet have never seen the children of God forsaken nor begging bread.''

It was my pleasure to have read it.
The end is always so sad...we struggle to understand the meaning of life. Ultimately all that matters is to be at peace with oneself and have the courage to be free. You penned the story so imaginatively.
