The Attractive Woman (ballad style)

The Attractive Woman (ballad style)

A Poem by Davi Rodrigues
"

This is a small ballad-like type of thing I had to do in my literature class. Thanks to Ilan Cruz for collab.

"
T’was a common night in May
When a woman came to me
While in my bedroom I lay
As attractive as could be

She had her own glass of wine
And a sip she’d have me take
But I felt a certain fright
And I ran for safety’s sake

She did not walk fast a bit
As I went across the hall
Static smiles so unfit
There I saw my family all

I am coming, she would sing
With some sort of warning tone
Such a shiver that would bring
I kept running on and on

I walked carefully down the stairs
Trying to get to the front door
But my front keys were not there
So I ran a little more

Looking for another exit
To the kitchen then I got
There I held habits preterit
But right then it mattered not

Then my foot on something slips
And I fell down to the ground
She got me, gave me a kiss
And to numbness I was bound

I know the tenses don't match in some of the stanzas. Please suggest something, if you will.
