Shiny Yellow MetalA Poem by Davi RodriguesThis poem might sound really wrong. Notice that what I write is not just what I think. I used the disposition of an Italian sonnet - again, I'm trying yo imprint symbolism in the form. Clue: rhymes.A golden
ring might have been cast in brass To less
attentive eyes for gold may pass As bright
and rich a shade as that it has And bitten,
it will bend, if right in class
Still,
looks and features similar aside, ‘Tis common,
among jewels it does not bide It works
and it is worked upon with pride But all grandeur
has been to brass denied
Amazing
things, amazing, will be made But none of
them for gold someone will trade Alas, they’ll
make their maker be a jade
With effort
brass and gold will look the same With effort
and lack of knowledge to name With
effort, all it gets is half the fame © 2013 Davi RodriguesAuthor's Note
