My PrayerA Poem by Davi RodriguesI tried to leave the meaning as open as possible.
We are yours, Mother
From your womb we emerge To your nesting embrace We go when we are tired Mother, we know You are so much more than us We are ungrateful And still we ask for more We've been loved and nourished And given knowledge But we are dull-hearted Greedy and not at all wise We resort to our lower instincts In times that call for humanity And we insist on seeing savagery In the lessons of our equals We keep doing it wrong, Mother Not always, of course But most of the time For we still need guidance We now ask for your forgiveness Although it's possible we'll keep our ways We will go back to you some day And it will be over, Mother
