Perfect Moments In Time

Perfect Moments In Time

A Story by Rodney Ray Hatchell / Unheardsong

 Perfect Moments In Time

Early in the morning before sunrise,
I hear Momma talking to God asking
him to guide her in all she have to
do.
The scent of smoke fills the house
will momma per paired the room with
heat penetrating off the old potbelly
stove for us kids To dress for school.
As momma stands next to the wood stove
first heating up her front side then
she turn her backside to the stove.
After awhile she pulls up her overalls
over her frock and proclaim the cow
needs milking.
She puts on her bonnet and pick up her
the milk pale as she heads out the door
to  meet the early morning cold.
The bold wind blows up her sleeves.
Old dog tales waging ,cat meowing as the
leaves blow across the yard.
Momma never complaining about the hard
life she had to live.
Always finding some joy in life to laugh
about to be amused herself with.
Momma cats waiting eagerly for some warm
milk then Mom squeezes some milk in the
direction of the cat with a perfect shot
into it's waiting mouth.
Momma just blushes and leans back and
giggle for a bit.
That's how life is lived way down south
when you have a mom such as mine.
These perfect moment in time I’ll carry
throughout my life.
Lord if I every need a pick me up or any
of my family and friends do the stories
I have will make them laugh.
I’ll bring out one of these perfect moments
in time from the days of my youth.
