What Such A Gem

What Such A Gem

A Poem by Rodney Ray Hatchell / Unheardsong

            What  Such  A Gem

I’ll always see us standing as one.
When I look at our son who became
a little of both of us such a gem we
have in him.
I will never lose my thoughts of you
for in his laughter he sounds like you.
He loves to be surrounded by nature
on hands and knees he’ll search for
tracks molded in the ground by a
strange paws he fines hidden beneath
fallen leaves.
Our little man is such a gem, he stands
two feet high and bold as a lion but he
still folds his hands to pray.
What such a gem in him we have.
I have seen  him  seating watching
the sun set in the west.
I have him in a picture in a trance
studding  a flower in amazement
and wonder.
Seen him dancing in the summer rain
like a small  Indian boy with  giggles
in his voice.
I have seen so many smiles and laughter
from his happiness.
Momma we must  have done it right in
our responsibility God gave to us.
What such a gem in him we have.
