My AmericaA Poem by Rodney Ray Hatchell / Unheardsong
My America
I can’t get enough of this great land we call America. That awaits my ever longing desire to journey down her pathways . Into her back roads were few people has ever adventure . To be blessed with her hidden treasures of old wagon trails that brought America together, from east to west and north to south where dreams came true. God put this master plan together for the land of the free and the brave. He was thinking of me knowing a day would come when this land would beckon after me to thumb my way throughout this beautiful place I call home. Riding down roads I’ll never see again in my old VW van painted up like Gods on rainbow. From the splendor of the mighty oaks that grow all across these lands, some leaning out over streams and rivers which kids swing off of ropes on hot summer days into the cool inviting water. The mighty oaks ends up on the west coast looking like a seedling next to those great redwood trees that reach all the way to Heaven , to tickle the bottom of Gods feet as he sets in his Heavenly seat. O those Colorado Mountains so high that there peaks can’t be seen ,as the white clouds drape around her like a wedding gown flowing down to nearly meet the ground. Then those Great Smoky Mountain in the Carolina’s where my home is. Has the sweet smell of southern pines as they reach out there limbs to welcome me home again. O my America soon summons me back again down her pathways . To meet good people and evil doers to. In all I have seen Gods peace and love which dwells in me ,as I travel this great land of hopes and dreams of others futures to be . In my America. .
