i want to tell you something. will you PLEASE just listen?

A Story by just take a breath

i want you, yes you reading this, to get up and look at yourself in the mirror. i don't want you to look at just your face. your whole body. take your makeup off, put your natural hair down, and i want you to repeat these words…

“im beautiful. my freckles are pretty, my dimples are cute, my uneven eyebrows are gorgeous, my eyes are amazing, my acne scars are not ugly, and my lips are beautiful. i have lovely curves, and any boy/girl would kill to love me. i am truly beautiful, and no one has any right to tell me otherwise.”

i know, this sounds cheesy. but im tired of looking at myself and not liking what i see. and im tired of looking at young women look at themselves and hating what they see too. i don't care if you weigh 300 or 90 pounds, have lots of freckles or none at all, have weird toes and fingers or have a gigantic nose. all those things are the most beautiful parts of you. so, i want you to turn that computer off and i want you to go outside and scream “i am beautiful!” because its true. i want you to work the sidewalk like a run way and i want you to believe in yourself. DON'T argue with me. just believe ok? believe you have every right to be loved, believe you have every right to be happy. wipe those tears away and do something! always wear a smile because it looks gorgeous on you. dance in the middle of the street with no worries! (don't get hit of course..) dream until your head explodes! just please, please

Author's Note

just take a breath
this isn't a story, but i put it down as one haha. its more of a conversation between me and you. because i know, I KNOW, that we have all struggled with this before.

Very nicely said, JTAB. Why is self-acceptance so difficult? Why do we see what we would rather be in other people so easily? Why can't we recognise how awesome we are in our own skin? Why am I asking stupid rhetorical questions in a 'review'? 8-). I loved this conversation. Thanks for posting.

Very good wisdom in your words. Real beauty can't be seen. Is what you do and how you treat people. Each person had their special feature. I like a woman who can smile and who is strong and confident. Hard to touch perfection. Better to be content and enjoy your life. Thank you for your excellent story.
