Tree Stumped

Tree Stumped

A Poem by rockface

sad little tree stump
why do you sit there and die?
when there is an ocean that needs exploring,
and you long for the sky?

I saw you when I was a kid,
and then you helped me explore.
I travelled across worlds
at your green mossy front door
the grass turned to armies
waging endless war
and the skies turned to writing
that told me your lore.

Sad to see my tree stump die
sad to see the grass was a lie
sad to see that in the end
even your friends
must cry.,
