The HummingbirdA Poem by Heather Clayton
the hummingbird was brown and white
flying through the air living life the fullest like he didn't even care then he stopped one day to see a bright flower in his path it was not a flower at all but a flowing garden bath he sipped up some water being thirsty from his flight but another challenge came to him for a cardinal wanted a fight with his little wings he did he fly away never again to be there on a shining sunny day. After flying home to Mexico he tried to stop again stopping at a feeder just made for little him he took a sip of water again with his beak but this time he was shocked for it was really sweet and when he finished drinking a butterfly appeared and said "Can I have some?" "Oh, sure I'll be your friend." So the two began flying this way and that and before you know it he was home in no time flat but when he stopped again perched in a tree guess who showed up staring hard at thee tis was a cat that was hungry waiting for a bite but this little hummingbird knew and flew off with a fright. That's the story of the little hummingbird go and tell your children tuck them in at night but don't forget I told you he may be by their side tonight.
