The day I was born

The day I was born

A Poem by Heather Clayton

my head
you turned me wisely
I saw that love never existed
I went there before you came along
felt that hurt that you needed me
almost lost all but not forgotten
went to the floor
crawling out of
the womb.

don't you remember
I am your baby
your little one that has toes
and I will punch you
and make you giddy
while you laugh
in your belly.

I have a safe place to be
in your arms holding me
tight like a woven blanket
I will coo and giggle
when you lift me up
you are my angel.
