Spirit Tree

Spirit Tree

A Poem by Heather Clayton

O Spirit Tree

How mighty you are

from near or far

how icicles hung

have not even begun

the little story of you

and everything you do.

You have red berries

and little mice scurry,

bluejays make a home

for a little tree knome.

The evergreen is pleasant

like opening a present,

for you are my little tree

making me happy as can be.

I see a star over you

the night sky an indigo hue.

I can see the deer make way

Tis' all good for a better day.

And on Christmas night

you shine so bright.

My little tree, so loving, so giving;

thank you for keeping on living.
