The hackedA Chapter by Rob McCrea“Hi sweetie, kinda early to call isn’t it?” “I don’t care, you told me you deleted those pictures. Those were private and now everyone can see them, you even tagged my grandma. My boss is going to fire me, he’s been looking for a reason.” “Ash, what are you talking about?” “I’ve already thrown up twice and my phone hasn’t stopped ringing and beeping with disgusting messages.” “Ashlee, please calm down and tell me what’s going on?” “Calm down, calm down! I trusted you and then you go and post our private pictures on facebook and instagram and tag everyone I care about so they will see everything!” “I don’t know what you are talking about.” “Did you post them anywhere else?” “I didn’t post anything and I did delete those pictures.” “Liar!” Her last word ending unnaturally abruptly. I pull my phone away from my ear to see if the call ended and see I have more notifications than I thought possible. I stick the phone back to my ear for a second to make sure the call was over. With Ashlee out of the way for a minute I click on the instagram notification and when the app opens I almost vomit. I see the pictures she is talking about. I can’t delete them fast enough. I look at my alarm clock and it’s almost 7 am and I know people are going to start waking up soon. I hope nobody sees these before I can delete them all. As I select the next picture I realize I deleted one exactly like it a minute before. Then I see the time on the post and it’s new. “What the hell is going on?” I mutter to myself as another wave of sickness fills me. How can I be so stupid, I can delete my account. A few clicks and I move to my email to wait for a the delete account confirmation. Instead the email that greets me has a subject line of, “d3l373 4ny m0r3 p1c7ur35 0r 4cc0un75 4nd 1 w1ll d357r0y y0ur l1f3”
