RoxeeA Story by robinxcorethis was an assignment done for a poetry class. we had to write about something we saw, and then describe it as if we were blind. enjoy.Part A: Roxee has been sprinting back and forth for almost an hour and for some reason, it hasn’t bothered me at all. Small hairs float from her back to the ground and I guess she’s shedding; her coat feels a lot smoother since I moved back. As she runs passed my chair, I hold my hand out and she stops mid-track, rubbing her chubby face into my hand. A meow escapes her mouth and she looks up at me, her pupils dilated to the size of dimes. This means one thing. She hops and run sideways, brown and tan hairs falling to the ground again. Part B: I smell fish. Fish and cheese and possibly a bit of turkey. Roxee’s mouth is open and she’s breathing in my face. I don’t know why, but I don’t mind the smell as much as I mind her sharp, tiny claws digging into my skin. She is balancing on my leg and eyeing a boisterous squirrel that is staring at us from behind my bedroom window. I lay my hand delicately on Roxee’s back and notice how soft her fur is; like if a new cashmere sweater and a hair brush for toddlers meshed together and had offspring. The squirrel scampers away and Roxee hops off my leg, her tiny paws softly thudding against the hardwood of my bedroom.
