Going on my way...

Going on my way...

A Poem by Robin Thomas
"

... you know when its time....

"
The neighborhood once was Home-
a place for love and laughter-
security and happiness everywhere.

Through time and neglect and apathy,
Home became a desert- barren wasteland.
All the things that gave it life-dead.

The abandoning was difficult --
Almost suicidal in its emptiness.
With no hope on the horizon.

Loaded wagons and crying children,
missing pets and lost toys--
forced into the great unknown.

Pioneers to the undiscovered country.
Strange creatures- nashed teeth.
Deep and Dark and Daunting.

Perseverance. Set your jaw and go.
Survival of the quickest.
There's no crying in self- preservation.

Only sheer will ... guns and armor ... protection for an unshakable spirit.

"Protections for an unshakable spirit"
A great climax for the current neighborhood problems.
Yes, you have poetically pointed out the big changes in the past decade.
It is alarming how this can happen even in just a few years to a new neighborhood as well.My father bought a new up-scale home in Houston, and within 5 years, the whole area declined.
Excellent write my friend
