Christmas Sacrifice

Christmas Sacrifice

A Poem by Robin - Scott Johnson
"

I wrote this "semi" religious poem one Christmas a couple of years ago for a movie I was making.

Christmas Sacrafice

By Robin Scott Johnson

Lonely does the mill that grinds,

Sorrowful letters in our minds,

With each day that counts on us,

Repent our sins to almighty Jesus,

Jerusalem lays quiet this night,

While evil is harboured out of site,

Take merry good sir this very eve

And remember what you do believe.

The light of God illuminates thee,

In the cantar of a woman’s plea

Do not just stand idle and retired,

In the shadow of the church’s spire

With blood and death upon the hill

An open wound left the world a’still

So take peace in this time of woe

And remember his sacrifice long ago.

I am not a Christian, but was raised as one. I wrote the previous poem for a movie I was making while very depressed and I needed something with a religious air for the narration. I felt it very appropriate.
