TREE

TREE

A Poem by Marie
"

What can happen to a tree in a storm...

"

That tree stood a hundred years

Never bent by storm or hail,

Crowned a king by branches thick;

Nature’s guard which would not fail.

Lightning hit one fearsome night,

This mighty  fortress shattered.

Trees are growing far and wide

From the seeds it scattered.

Lovely poem Marie, the lightening may have taken its life (what a way to go, being struck by lightining) though at least the tree got to scatter it seeds , so not all lost.

In the great struggle between life and death, even though death always wins when it comes to an individual, life really wins over all because of all those seeds. Beautiful and wise.

Thanks you; that's what I meant to say.
I think your piece is a good example, of the lessons nature provides. I find it touching, yet strong .

Thank you.
This has a great message to it; very much akin to Eastern philosophy. I believe in the flow of Nature and agree with the poem's themes.
The imagery is very vivid and hits right in the imagination.

Great write, Ma'am.

Thank you for reading what I was trying to write.
Two great forces combine to give new Life to the surrounding landscape and similar collaborations in Nature will help give rise to another such grand fortress.
This is a wonderful story of longevity, death and rebirth Marie.
Bravo!

There are many trees out there that teach us it is okay to bend as long as you don't break.

This tree did break, but new trees were formed from it.
nature is fearsome. even a centennial tree is helpless when dealing with the wrath of Nature.
of course Man is today wreaking havoc tenfolds.
beautiful two stanzas Marie.
love it.

Well said, dear poet. In life they give us oxygen, in death they give us future generations. I believe I will miss the trees and the clouds the most when I am gone from this life. Thank you for sharing.
