Solitudes

Solitudes

A Poem by Robert Newton

Long flowing blades of grass that flow with the wind like a natural orchestra
they speak volumes to me as if it were a poetic masterpiece.
stories of life are spoken through these subtle movements
going on as life does whether I watch them or not.

That babbling brook that is slightly irritating to listen to
yet soothing at the same time.
It represents all that is peaceful
beckoning for you to realize it's tranquility.

The magnificent rock formations and bluffs
that protrude from the earth like Titans
letting you know that there is stability
and strength for us to embrace.

Cold, crisp air that flows through your hair
freezing your lungs as you inhale it's pure, life giving essence.
moving through you as if you were a blade of grass
teaching you the ways of movement and harmony.

Thunderous strikes and flashes of light
are glimpses of life in all it's power and decadence.
trembling your soul with hair raising resonance
reminding you of all thats sacred.

Pearl white snow caps and powdered drifts
freezing life and time with it's piercing weight.
molding our landscape with magnificence
preserving life itself, even just for a moment.

Darkness that blankets the earth
with fear and uncertainty.
chilling us with the unknown.
yet darkness is certain and all knowing
when you are at it's mercy.

Solitude, peacefulness and tranquility by day
fearful, glooming and mysterious by eve.
in awesome splendor do I adore these things
waiting for that next chance to breathe.
