Snow Day

Snow Day

A Poem by RJ
"

first snow of 2017

"

It is a dark and early evening

The sky is black and no light in site

I am told upon us there would be snow

I look and look only to find cloudy sky

So, I slumber for a few hours

It is a chilly morning with snow just beginning

I go out to start my vehicle

It is rather cool so I bring my coat

in case I go in to the outdoors

I see the weather before my travels

It is light snow that is coming the roads are clear

You can smell the freshness of the mountain air

It is of light drift in the snow

I travel onward to my destination

I see only a slight drifting of snow

It is like watching travel at lightspeed in space

As I pass the ornaments covered in light

You see the aura of light glow in many colors

As the time passes and I see the light of the day

The snow slowly grows appearing like winter

It is as though we can feel season is here

No site of ice only melted snow on the road

The grass and hills see the snow stay

It is of a great sight to see and feel

for last year was a small dropping

Once was day dreaming on such a morn

It is like a winter wonderland full of mystery

You see the snow atop of cars

The train passes by blowing snow in air

The trailers parked are getting covered

You can see what others envy

The snow fall is steady

The white capped cabs are coated

There is a small string of roofs

If was small, could hop from one to another

With only a foot print left for trace

There is a steady flow of snow as the day goes

No sun in sight with a white cloudy sky

Powder like snow looking like cotton

White fluff that holds to the sky and ground

As the day unfolds, you see winter come to life
