The FallenA Poem by RJloss of a fallen soldierI see some of you are still here And then there are some gone. To leave this place and still Yet you are just a memory. You are the memory of life It life taken too soon and shortly. You are the hopes and dreams To remind us that not all are so lucky It was pinned to you, a medal. A medal that was given to you A medal they say you earned For you paid the price Just so others didn’t have to. You have given yourself to a cause It was one you believed in It was not for some politician It was not for some president It was with your intent to protect America Time has gone past with your life You are the remanence of a memory One that is of love and care for you You will never be remembered as A great man. You will never be Remember for all you did Life has evaded you for your sacrifice You gave your life for something others Squander and take for granted Choosing not to make a life of wealth and ease But a sacrifice of self for others to have better In this life those choices are many And time is but a virtue as you lived for others. Are you not as important and idols that are greedy? Are you not self-less as one can be? No, you are the fallen, the one most have forgotten Your memory should have never faded away Forgotten like the truth of the statue Given no life of opportunity to remind us Why, why you mean so much This is where your comrades, brothers in arms Shall never leave you behind You are at least free of this world and The chaos of your service brother’s woe’s Let it be not forgotten what you gave So that another can have and not have to do without. Let you have peace beyond the men of this world. Let you be free from pain, lost limbs, or PTSD. Let you live on in the hearts of few with the impact on many Remember you, so that you may be fallen but never forgotten. © 2017 RJ |
