Kind, Calm, Cool Spirit I Wonder Where You're Goin'

Kind, Calm, Cool Spirit I Wonder Where You're Goin'

A Poem by Robert Robbie Lord Dudley

to a hole in the river, to a hole in the river

cut by the water moving, cut by the water moving

to the hole by the river, to the hole by the river

i must walk this road, i must walk this road

now and then the morning sunlight will blunder in under the hot roof shiny anew feels

through a black window a little wild root entangled around these worlds flew

bits of truth shall flow forth slowly i arise from sleep at what you said did grow on

very core my weary world and dreary weather and even if it gets rough on tough

over the roads for awhile i been walking and there have a rest and feel the rush on

of every wind, of every rain, my confidence was often more like a vase, the hush of bright leaves fall on pages

well placed upon the books and off the books so calming stood compeled like a favorite picture taken

enjoy them a few gaint trees i found at the river that still stands with the patience of a saint

and the conscious of a hero thus so and i shall overcometh some made it home alive to cry out

each one will guide or not at all safe to say i don't know on each thier own angel

and i can i got through it for awhile and why not i've had it i haven't been

entirely eaten away i still have one peace left my brain, am i certain, yes i am sure that's nothing

on the waterfront therefore at the door open at the window open

at the heart open because i want to feel the rush of the wind keep it unpredictable

i want to feel the rush of the rain and i say to you how it sprang up upon me like a smile

to hold fruits i want to feel a sunray shining once thru every plant every vegetable

and with the flowers again i am free alongsides you in hidden places of a garden

i confess in a poem on every tongue no reason i do not feel oppressed on the ground around at all levels

i am watching waters and wings flowing straight on in the pond

what's up, what's down

i like to wear my hair longer i had to cut my bangs short to show my eyes can see

so to know, here, now, what's going on but not to hear but not to care in every hole

but not to see i am quite unaware i have eyes on my feets leading me there blindly

on what and on how i was thinking will find in hidden places

within my garden a little truth shall flow forth slow at what you said did grow on

more than ever before and here i can be where i can see to live on if so the way off

of thought underneath the weight of the deep dark night and to fate times aside

an eye upon the sunbeams for everyone's a sudden burst of bright rabbits brilliant stars

i painted to that effect always perfect to me as the morning clouds broke free

as the light flows forth slow what you said did grow above

a dark time the kind calm cool spirit i wonder where you're goin'

to a hole in the river, to a hole in the river

cut by the water moving, cut by the water moving

to the hole by the river, to the hole by the river

i must walk this road, i must walk this road
