The Long Dream Of MineA Poem by Robert Robbie Lord Dudley
Made the effort, the pleasure, the glory
Of something simple I felt complex
The right way across
The depths over the air blue and true so formless
Keeps me flying long on
Keeps me trying to do on
Now, perhaps, something beautiful will happen again
Like it or not it' all I got
While free from time
This long dream of mine is now ending, transcending
With anew beginning to imagine all
Within the energy of poetry
The heart beats contents me when I am unwell
And wants to live to progress with
To pass from level one, guess, I must increase
on my path, a stranded bird
Somehow to be good
Somehow to be happy
Somehow to not grieve departure
As if ever forever never was
As if all this was my little space
Meant to be a blade of grass
The last breath in, the last breath out I know about
If, likely I did, I say, I saw it
If ever I do this I do this ever by chance
I maybe.. it's just puzzling me
Will the feeling change
I'm feeling so estranged
Is there other things that lay way across before me
Is there other things to set about
Kept onward searching
The far out distant gaze going
Into the day the descent into the night I let it out
That I can create I am
Over and over again mending this long dream of mine
Is it really ending, transcending
On a long and winding path
Paved or not and I walk it
And let it out as I threw a rock
I watched it soar as it went
Flying over the extent of a very high tree top
If I could break or pick this iron lock
Outside my tool chest i drop struggling
OH, my head, OH, my body
Spinning round and round remembering
Like a bull in a pen that's always open
Without horns in action
Suffering gently the fury
Smelling something flowery
That grew out of the mud on my butt
Through long rain dripping dropping in
Made the effort, the pleasure, the glory
Of something simple I felt complex
The right way across
The depths over the air blue and true so formless
