In The Gloom Of Long Shadows

In The Gloom Of Long Shadows

A Poem by Robert Robbie Lord Dudley

it's this way with

reversed double numbers about

it's time to go

from one flit

far out death slumbers away

stays over there

off a hard down-pour the storm

surrounds me

and i couldn't see

under a haunted tree

torn deeply befell

right beside me

and do you see

am I still alive is this place

it's a long time

to become thine own up

for existence within

the last days of lesser expressions

of lower case letter

retains visions I guess is

of what we did want

cheerful and sad graveyards

upper chambers

decaying away

remains moonbeams that soars

across your mind

with arms across the sky

no longer I replied

and forms today

sunlight in the magic Spring gardens

of the desert rain on a

strange dry face beyond

to cherish it the short burst

for responses within

that pleases the hurts

of two pieces unglued

smiling together along the lake

at last believing

there in the bright blue with holes

something's left

in the gloom of long shadows

and said slow and warmly

and clear and soundly

to walk, unroll, fall, float thought

hovering over-board

the wide open hope

searching for

and pulling it apart

the web glistens

in the thundering and in the shine

I could gaze to where ever at

and my heart moves me

to my own sound wet beyond

crashing to the ground

as a star slips by

running deeper

waiting for a sight

a Spring breeze delights

so place me aback

to a gentle weave

pressing on, dropping down

thrown by a wave

the emotion fades

invades me vision enfolds

it won't make me

it won't take me away

if that does

it was okay

it just awakes me up no more times

at least for me, anyway

freedom is flying now

and the sweet sleep came

in a flower paint can brushes

bending hairs of course

my fingers mending slow

down many rivers I saw

to those eyes, trying, crying

that's the soul of it

listens for flying

ever like ghost

the thought blows

in the gloom of long shadows

standing on the first steps

seeking today

in your name weeping away

turning leaves

since any sense was lost

imparts in your stars can

that soars across your mind

whilst we're tracking

freedom's vision improves

up and down the path

and lays it down here

I found a chance to one day

whatever else will say; Ye olde top

oh, wouldn't it not shine better beyond the trees,
Painted signs; Road Closed.
