When We Were There Feeling Forced To Flee

When We Were There Feeling Forced To Flee

A Poem by Robert Robbie Lord Dudley

When we were there

feeling forced to flee

for one of these days

And it, just, wasn't so sure, shall wait

it stay bright, at the heart, after

nightfall, began, again

How the day breaks is shining

upon, when birds are singing

from afar on and on legs

Of a chair wandering

amongst strange rocks and speaks more

about an escape for an destiny what

To a leaf, a-fading out, soon we'll go

be as what we were, warmer

slowly, now and seeking

Hating what is, there is

it wasn't to transpire

for, or against, today and tonight

the exchanging in dust eternal

But always I met as before, across

the floor my breadboard creaks

it might get loud besides

Every step, every word, directs

overheard, to a-getting my bloom

letting us, as I beget

Moving my fingers better, floating

that the planes filled the sky

is, that, the way strange rocks

Go on the trails nearby

and far off because my lamp is

on, so, that, the branches

they are there lies still

when we were there

feeling forced to flee

for one of these days
