Searching for Sky

Searching for Sky

A Poem by Robert Robbie Lord Dudley

Fare thee well

to thy seashell

    churning

    the storm

    chiming

    the sweet tune

    because

that puzzles me

    to a swift circulation

through the clouds

   looping loops

  throws back energy

  pushes loose the colors

    explodes

    with paint

    with love

    in a cool

   and steady state

    of mind

        comes goes

    turning me

O' nimble tree

O' shall i go be

  off the rail

  or on the brake

    but a brave old horse

   near you

  still climbing

   and yet not knowing

    where we're going

    with pain

    with love

i will try to completely

    not try

   understand

     but one side of me

    is blind

    stay kind

   for may-be better yet

one side of me

    can see

completely free

   high or low

    in the way

    many ways

    to fly more

    the climate

    the wind

    to hold

    to show

   like thee

    to float too far

     my world

   not long ago

   a short while ago

holding it was

 too hard to handle

  amending

  another look

   i didn't say

   in that i am

   in the rain

   grasping

    lightly

on a long string

on a long grain

   moving on

  traveling along

   in space

  that might sparkle

     and dance

    brightly

from the past

   searching for sky

i don't wanna end

i don't mind

     barefoot

   in the wood

   in the park inland

i wouldn't mind

    jumping a stream

      stiring it up

vast like the bottom

 of the ocean

    in a pool

     of rains

the times and sands

     i found

   still undecided

     i smile

     to see

  when the water

      calms

   downward

      clears

     upward

   amending

   another look

    i didn't say

    in that i am

    in the rain

    grasping

     lightly

    in the new

  and old world

    in the new

  and old words

   high or low

    in the way

    many ways

   journey me now

    flowing

    in a tiny sound

    underfoot

  at ye side

Fare thee well

to thy seashell

    goodbye

to my seashell

    churning

    the storm

    chiming

    the sweet tune

    because

that puzzles me
