Chthonic Nymph's Embrace by MarySusan Willliams-Migneault (c) 2007

A Poem by RHP

Beloved country, turn your eyes -
Medusa has buried you in her bosom.

Her golden locks in a serpents trance
Sears her beauty within your heart
Daring all to mount their steeds
And do what Perseus could not …
Chthonic nymph of earth’s rebound
Arose headless from her enemy’s hand.

Remembering Posiedon’s angry lust
Medusa’s wrath seethes from her gaze
Glazing monuments in her wake.
