poetry is what you do when you need to be doin s**t

 

best time to write poetry is when you know you have more pressing things to do

you get up make tea grab a pen and with goopy eyes scribble nonsense

and a list of words that come out of nowhere

probably s**t left over from the last thing you were dreaming

and it ends up in  a pile of papers to be forgotten

until the next time you really need to be doin s**t and

the pen takes possession of your hand and next thing you know

you’ve spent the entire day f*****g with words and lines

and laundry ain’t done and turtles ain’t cleaned and snakes ain’t fed

and the cat box stinks and the kitchen floor’s hairy and

s**t flecks in the bowl and food ain’t cooked and the poem

still ain’t right
