Fish Bait

Fish Bait

A Poem by Rebecca

Pray tell

what you see across the planks balanced between the expanse –

tell me what can you see across that vastly narrow space –

do you see the beginning?

Can you hear a faint echo of sound bounding from ship to shore?

Can I cliché myself with nautical metaphors?

of journeys?

oceans between and fish in the sea?

Can I classify you as one in a million?

a ship sailing to the horizon but you’ve caught me under the tiller –

I’ve felt like a weight dragging you

to a level playing field - all that pulling just left me dragging in debris.

I’m scummed up and scrubbed out

falling pieces from being torn and tumbled below the surface –

But my words fail me – instead waiting patiently, building strength to walk the plank jump off the end of the world no fish or fauna no you only the underside of living and what’s left of me.

About
There's very little to tell about myself - primarily, poetry is what I write for myself though I do occassionally write rants (essays) and short stories. I have a great love of metaphors and layering.. more..
