Nature's Beauty

Nature's Beauty

A Poem by matelotrod

                         Nature's Beauty
I was relaxed on my Beer bench enjoying the sun
With a nice glass of whisky to make it more fun
When a Red Robin decided to land on my head
Mistaking my grey hair for a piece of white bread.

I shook my head violently and roared with alarm
What the Hell are you doing? you'll cause me harm
Then to my surprise he poked his beak near my nose
And I swear that he said "This is what I propose"

"If you feed me with Bird food on a regular basis
Providing me and my mate's with safe eating places
We'll protect your garden from seed stealing birds
Increasing your products by almost two thirds"

I studdied his red breast and his bright yellow beak
It was the first time I'd ever heard a Robin speak
So I nodded my head and accepted his intention
If I make an agreement There's a thing I must mention

I looked him in the eye and said "I really need to explain
If I agree to your wishes how many birds will remain?"
I love all birds in my garden and to destroy them is risky
Just accept my decision and  allow me to enjoy my Whisky.
