Fish List

Fish List

A Poem by matelotrod
"

Things we did as boys

"
             Wish List or Fish List?
I will always remember that when I was a boy
Being taught how to fish brought hours of joy
My Dad felt it was his duty to teach me the art
I was completely enchanted from the very start.

He explained how fish would prefer different bait
Something I had to learn before I could participate
He was patient and cool and  brought me great joy
He treated me as a Fisherman and not as his boy.

I remember those days and the hours that were spent
No other past time would have  made me so content
Sit and wait till the float bobbed then give it a strike.
I caught Bream and Tench sometimes Carp and Pike

This was years ago and now many things have changed
The Canal where Dad taught me has been re-arranged
The sailing boats of all types that prevent people fishing
Thank goodness my memory encourages my reminiscing.
