Replace the FireplaceA Poem by matelotrodThe woman always wins.Replace the Fireplace. It was forty years ago that we purchased our first home A basic double bedroomed bungalow I was happy and contented with absolutely no desire to roam There couldn’t be a better place to go.
As the years passed by we lovingly made improvements Everything I did was done with love My wife would show admiration for my movements I felt that I was blessed by him above.
The new fireplace was my personal best achievement Lovingly constructed with old stone Many of our relatives and friends were in agreement As a work of art it stood alone.
But unfortunately there became a dwindling admiration It had served its time and it had to go I begged and pleaded but a woman’s determination Cannot be swayed; as any man will know.
So the legacy that I thought would celebrate my name Was erased and taken from my home When I analyse my objections I know I am totally to blame You’d get more protestation from a garden gnome.
What I am trying to emphasise is a woman will have her way Fashion will be the ruler of her life A man can protest all he wants there’s no way that he will sway The fashionistic direction of his wife.
