Sir Lantern-Jawed

Sir Lantern-Jawed

A Poem by RL Valdez

Thick-rimmed glasses, rounding frumpy
His rheumy eyes widen, chasing curiousity
Eyebrows thicken whenever wiggling tidy
Forehead creases, wrinkling olden memories.

He stands up crook with slouching back
Hairstyle's a doom, cut symmetrically in half
His quivering lips, melting confidence to lack
Dried mouth gaping, seemed in culture shock.

He speaks in riddle, words like raining puzzle
His voice trembles frequent, stumbles so often
His words' worth a million bucks, valued in packs
They snatched a glimpse for you from the future past.

He looks like an anime, weird and grotesque
A cartoon character from a poignant burlesque
He's an image sketched of finely drawn caricature
He conveyed authority but it's too immature.

His long thin face, a suited description of poverty
He's a poor little soul lacks a lot in self-esteem
But his heart that thumps in his deep melancholy
His heart that cries yet springing to reach his glee.

He crawls so hard, climbing his dream in thrive
His feet though shaking still continue to strive.
He's a rowdy in knowledge, a ruffian in learning
He's a study maniac, books before everything.

He's Sir Lantern-Jawed, a modern wacko weirdo
He's a walking freak, solving logarithm in seconds
A man of science, of all philosophical lore
Who's in isolation, specializing in introversion.
