JabberWocky Jookerie

JabberWocky Jookerie

A Poem by R. L. Ives
"

Literary nonsense.

"
Peer into my mind...

Letters being swirled into a vortex,
struggling to join hands
as Gulliver's finger
turns thoughts into a wordpool.

Quite a monu'mental effort
For such a senti'mental fool.

Taming these beasts of thought,
words run scared from the tip of my pen,
and come to perch on the lines of my paper,
like cormorants on a wire.
Doodles looking like so much pigeon poo.

I doodle when I'm thinking.
How doodle you doodle too?

The eyed's of March have seen enough
of winter's sunless gloom.
Be done and away
frozen writer's blocks.
And I'll say...
It's alright.

Here comes the sun,
And it says, we're alright.

Great fun here. The title drew me in from a childhood vague memory of The Jabber Wocky. This is a treasure to behold. I like the way you broke (mental) free form the confinds. Excelent wordplay throughout. Great metaphors building fun imagery. I do believe your kin are correct. Write On>>>>>>>>>>>>

Like the poem, the way you work in outside ideas but produce something new - good job.

Thank you Leslie. I appreciate your review. This was fun to write.
If this is what happens when you write whatever, keep doing it. Reading this, one would have thought it was done over time and with lots of concentrated effort. It's priceless, right down to the ending with a Beatles flavor. (One of my favorites by them!)
Making a great poem about writer's block takes some doing. And you did it very well.

That wordpool of yours is full. The reservoir that produces our images only seems a mess. If you think of it more as a spool of string, once you start pulling you`ll be amazed at what comes out - and in what order! Keep pulling, kiddo! P.

Writer's block can indeed feel like your mind is frozen. Other times it flits around landing on nothing. I think you capture the helter skelter nature of it all. I loved the title and the literary nonsense that didn't seem so nonsensical at all!
