The Negatives For The PositivesA Poem by R. L. Ives
Is happiness truly so elusive?
You find it and even hold on to it for a time. Then life happens and it's gone, leaving you wondering "was it ever really there to begin with?" Maybe that's just the nature of it. Perhaps it's not meant to stay, but rather ebb and flow like the tide. Could it be that we have to experience the absence of happiness at times, so as not to take it for granted? After all, we were given the ability to feel a multitude of emotions. Sadness to know happiness; anger to learn to forgive; grief to appreciate life, and maybe even hate to understand love. The negatives and positives,
the good and the bad. Learn to feel and stop being life's complication. Life is complex enough on it's own.
