Rocks and Baggage

Rocks and Baggage

A Poem by R. L. Ives

If only I could learn that...
Rocks are heavy,
put them down.
Baggage is, well, for taking trips
so unless I'm going on an adventure
quit packing for the trip called guilt.
And since this guilt is the past,
which cannot be rewrit,
let...it...go.

Words
some even sound reasonable
so unless I can discern
how to make them work,
make them fit,
that's all they'll ever be
just words.

If only I could learn...
that.

Memories ARE so much baggage. The pleasent wonders of our years gone bye are light and airy, we must strech and reach high like picking stars from the sky. Why do we instead pick up the rocks in our path to transport them long distances before returning them to the path, where we will surely stumble apon them again?
It is amazing how much of a kindred spirit you are to me. There have been so few in my experiance. If you check out "Bag of Darts" And "Writing Addiction" I think you will see what I mean.

haha!
I left a lot of baggage way back on the path somewhere. It can be hard to not judge ourselves on the past but it doesn't define us. We can change at any time and see things differently if we really want to.

Nice writing.
